streamed~

aloft alone
purgatory in its sincere blue
the cold so true

curvature
and statue stealth
the cities steam
with common wealth

I've yet
to turn over
I've yet to stir the dog
dreaming at my feet
while others have
gone
started shifts
driven cars
tested the cold
that grips the land
for months and
days

Never unpublish poetry

All _my dear sublimes
I would by now
be a cold black coal mine
So don’t think of yourself less
Others don't understand you
as much as they ought to
let that be a calculated guess
let the poetry stay

does one kill an autistic child?
no way
I profess
keep yourself running
in the composing process

So far so many decades have lapsed
but the poet in me
has yet not collapsed....
despite some who wished it!

The Mosquito - a bit of fun

a mosquito visited my bed last night
it sucked my thoughts

now it must be dead

FORBIDDEN WAY (March contest)

I'll never walk that way again,
in bottoms drowned by this new lake
unless I sprout both gill and fin
a change I guess I'll never make.

I picture the flat plain once there;
I'll never walk that way again,
with legs which took me everywhere,
which conquered hill and stream and glen.

I remember times there with passed kin,
this plain now barred to halting tred.
I'll never walk that way again
with loved ones gone to final bed.

Life is Like a Merry Go Round

Life is like a merry go round
with its ups, downs and turn around
no matter when, where, even how
make merry, as much, in the now

Let go, set free, never be bound
Life is like a merry go round
hold on, hang on, lest it slip by
like a rare rainbow in the sky

Take risks, gamble, romance and dance
with roll of a dice, take a chance
Life is like a merry go round
plenty of riches to be found

The Dream (Pastoral Poetry Workshop)

I dreamt that I was lost at the sea
with no one there to comfort me
the sound of waves spoke to me
"Unaided you will never be."

and then I felt a gentle nudge
a curious dolphin swam to my side
I stroke his head and he asked me
"My human friend, do you want a ride?"

I rode his back and laughed aloud
as high he leapt in the air
before diving into the water,
gently washing away my despair

Scream (traditional, not original content)

This piece is all about performance, so I'm not even going to post the words.

For Stan again Pastoral workshop

This stroll I’ve taken time and times before.
Each moment was as pleasant as the last.
I’ve seen the trees and harkened to Stan’s lore
while trodding grass as green as days long past.
For green and lush they were spite all the pain
and now I can recall the loveliness.
The fear is still remembered, but as gain;
those lessons learned that helped me to address
the joys and how to keep them close to me.
And so I walk again with my old friend
to gaze at flowers red and blue he sees.

COMMUTER

Ensconsed inside my cubicle
beneath the false florescent light
eyes strained from flickering monitor
I glance at the clock's hands
then stare

The sweep hand at last passes twelve
as the short one lands on five.
I rise and stretch then join
the exodus
from sterility

Elevator to the parking level
somebody farts
an unwelcome sharing
from one uncaring
