Forgotten

She was a stay at home mom
empowering her children for success
she forewent challenges of the workforce
for her family; she worked from home.

Obstacles were many; freedom was golden
calls came in; her kids were problematic
the fruits of her womb are finding success
she's isolated, watching, in her empty nest.

She's all alone on her journey through winter
her hair slowly adorns silver, losing teeth
she braces up for the storm that's brewing
against her once she's in her senior years.

Expectations from a flickering candle

Expectations from a flickering candle

The flame of life flickers..... As does a candle... the wind has blown all life away...

now as we ebb they want us to be...
the candle flame,
just lit at the gate

the light is about to dwindle...
the flame does rapidly flicker
what more light can it now give?
it has just no longer
life to kindle
'tis a dying flame

RADIO/SILENCE

Shutter the mind
the fog..the coastal misery of its fingers digging into warmth
everyone laughed at grunge
but wait for a bus in Washington State with its welded screens
and gated doors...Log trucks idling throaty at the lights
and the neon advertisements for the thirsty and the lost
loathsome floatsam living beneath bridges
cooking on propane and briquettes

Magpie

In quiet, inactive tryst of early morning,
when yesterday's an echo through the mist
and Venus shimmers, swinging on sky's awning,
and shines with eye of one who's just been kissed,
the songster of the bush begins to warble
an aria of old, from Dreamtime's play,
that seems to mimic every human foible,
and signals us the coming of the day,

messiah I am

on the floor
open and raw
never wanted
this pointless war

drinking the blood
of the misunderstood
of the mutilated
and the dead
my nostrils filled
with the victims stench

(pause)

messiah I am
messiah I am

slitting the throat

(pause)

slitting the throat

of the sacrificial lamb
of the sacrificial lamb

SUBBMITUNSH

this hour is filled with the narcotic plush
history shimmers like a ball thrown hot light
black tables with glorious trappings
the beat pulsing in the floors the walls
the ceiling in the haze and dark
adresse uknowns
slouched and hunched the handiwork
in talk and lingo
the girls dance against each other
sleek and sweating pumped up on the
speed of Being
wavelengths sheen

Scotia

So,
As it turns out,
And for those of you who don’t know,
The Scottish are stubborn folk.

Or,
At least they were
In 1639 when King Charles the First sent
Troops to quell the Presbyterians.

So,
It seems that if
You don’t like the king’s policies, you revolt.
Oldest and noblest of professions.

Or,
You could just pretend.
Form unenthusiastic armies and meet at the border,
But never REALLY do battle.

BOSSMAN

My boss is bald and getting old
and growing a bit fat;
he moves so little he grows mold
and sometimes smells like he just shat.

He's slow while imploring speed
from all who call him boss
having to follow his lead
regardless if it's to their loss.

And he thinks he knows everything
(the SOB is usually right)
and anytime he tries to sing
dogs and children cry from fright.

The Wait

A horse-pulled cart
Through central park
Or opening night on Broadway

Just tell me
Where you want to go
Which one will make your heart sway

Shall we go dance
Where the bubbly flows
With music all night long

Or be entranced
By a firefly's glow
Ephemeral yet so strong

A movie perhaps
You want to see
Action Sci-fi or comedy

Choose from these 3
No sappy Romance
You know that is just not for me
