Illusion

The mist was clearing
on a chilly day
frosting the glass
on the window pane
I drew a heart
hoping it would beat
to the gentle strums
of a harp within

I saw a door
around the heart
embracing it
in a welcome warmth
I tapped on that door
in hope and in prayer
to save me from agony
and despair

SPACES

ABOUT SPACES
I’ve left a space
for others to fill
my time is done
in this godforsaken place.
I am turning to stone
but my heart is strong
and I linger forever alone.
I know what death is,
I’ve seen it before
What door did I open
to bring me here so soon
but then why do wolves
bay at the moon…

Wooden Crowns

Will you hold me?
When I need you,
and I need you,
will you hold me
down?

You're used to it,
and I'm used to it;
will you stick my wooden crown upon my head
will you
tell me
these old bamboo halos
mean something?
Will you tell me
I mean something still.

I'd like to throw myself
another pity party.
I'd like to tell myself
I'm deep, or whatever.

Bamboozled or an elaborate scheme

In the darkness of the unseen
Predatory, it lays in Wait
Hidden on a mental screen
Playing all the buried hate

Expounding on every fear
Growling, Licking its lips
In the eyes a menacing Lear
Awaiting to take little nips

Destroying life as it's known
In many bits and pieces
Just to hear agonies moan
As an unwritten thesis

Now at the moment of death
Realizing it is the final ride
Waiting for that last breath
Knowing nowhere to hide

Nine Tenths of Da Law

less is best
languid liquid
sunshine
pooling in
a summer day
cranked up
with hot mowers
song
a lone fly buzzing
round
the nightmares
of a dream
still sounds

shaggy head
I awake
my shuffle
my clothes
in a pile
my life in
a duffel
but U
bright eyed
and dressed
dug up from
the depths
like a prized
truffle
a spritz of ur
best Ardenes
and eyes lined
blush in place
with just a teasing
hair out of place

Limericks inspired by contest

There was a young lady wore green,
her countenance always serene.
She sat by a frog
which barked like a dog,
Thus startled, she let out a scream.

A gentleman wandered from home
and while still inclined to just roam,
he met a fair maid
who gambolled and played,
for she had a Bo-Peep syndrome.

Though buried now deep in the past,
a chest was discovered at last.
It had an old lock
which succumbed to a knock
and was emptied exceedingly fast.

Freud's poles and holes

WHEN Night comes
all know dreams will come
so will Freud
with his poles and valleys and wells
with all let him come
let guys fall
fill the valleys after all

what alone can rain do
it comes as a season
once in six months

Freud comes daily
and
all young ones do play
with their woods
all smile as the dawn breaks
and wet beds all make
and ere they shake
spouses tea or maybe coffee make

Fade

Hummingbirds of memory
float then fleetly flee my mind
like drifting foliage from fall trees
a forecast of what will be
as Alzheimers slowly rapes my mind

The Couch Players

An hour or so this room was full of noise;
the telly's volume's maximized- up up.
You know about the zealous teenage boys,
as they watch a game of champions' league cup.

Here's a kick, but not as yet a goal,
a yellow card and that's a clear off side,
the players running; all want the ball,
with full energy they'll forever guide.

For My Parents

Dearest mother,
when I was a young seed in your womb,
in every beat of your heart, I was there.
When the time came for my birth,
you willingly faced a world of pain.
With love, you delivered me to the world.

Dearest father,
you're the captain in my ship of life.
The turbulent waves of the wild sea,
your companion in all your strife.
When the storm comes my way,
your courage guides me to safety.
Without you, I would have gone astray.
