Media madness

They read it in the paper,
Watched it on the news.
Swallowed every story,
And joined hate's trending crew.

Do they think it gives them kudos?
Or just the fog that's thick?
It doesn't make them attractive,
More like useless Pr*cks.

I apologise for swearing,
I'm just angry at this fad.
And it's not that I'm doolally,
Instead, I'm incredibly mad.

What happened to the people?
Where did they lose their hearts?
Maybe it's pollution in the water,
Creating these ugly farts.

A Little Poesy

I opened the curtain and smiled.
“Good morning, Friday!”

On my early walk, I smiled
at the mourning dove strutting
in front of me, its wings whistling
as it flew away.

A most delightful grin
spread across my face when,
at first glance, a small
leaf appeared to be a toad.

I smiled at the bicyclist,
then I smiled at the squirrel
scrambling to get out of his way.

And other people who also
enjoy an early morning walk -
I smiled at them, too.

SHE HURRIED

The voice is heard, Jenny are you there?
The T.V.’s still on with it’s commercials.
The children ain’t crying only the dog is sighing,
She said she would leave but this isn’t a rehearsal.

I ride out to her mother’s gray house,
Her car is parked but no sign of any other,
Walking around back where her footprints are fresh,
Her father in tears tells me “don’t bother.”

Fragments of the Stolen Self

I am Julie, the name I bear,

An evocative Durga, fierce and rare.

Author of tales, my pen bleeds ink—

A poet whose words force worlds to think.

A singer of notes that haunt the air,

A songwriter weaving emotions bare.

A musician’s soul strums through my art,

An artist sketching shadows of my heart.

A mother with arms, yet empty space,

                  The New God

Like every change that came before

it could not be done, consensus said;

pyramids and ships, Columbus,

planes and moon landings,

the attributes of birds and animals,

transferred to humans –

Gaudi buildings and surgeons’ tools

designed on snake bodies,

sonar and ultrasound from bats,

sharkskin swimmers,

glueless gecko pads for climbers,

eagles’ sight attached to human eyes

and wing-suit flight

down miles of mountain,

glider-possum style.

Now reverse transference -

Where oh where did the last forty nine years go?

SOS sent from my redoubt
apartment b44 – nothing much to tout
years elapsed without accomplishing much

while holed up maintaining
a reclusive mental workout.

whether yours truly
i.e. me doth attend

since I live in Schwenksville,
yours truly never did blend

into the crowded house of students,
but a poem I extend

just to keep thee in the loop,...
and who knows
maybe make a friend
who might be able,
eager and willing to lend

the baron declares

"the baron's declaration"

The celebrated Munchhausen
announced to town council
that he had recently returned
from a perilous expedition
across the vast expanse
between the windowsill
and the fruit bowl.

He described the journey
as “gruelling,”
citing unpredictable terrain
(a crumpled napkin),
hostile wildlife
(a mildly curious sparrow),
and the treacherous crossing
of the Great Ceramic Plateau
(a strewn dinner plate).

He concluded his report
by presenting a souvenir:

A World Barely Missed

The gold sun fractures against the glass,
I sink into velvet, heavy and deep.
Where the barbed edges of the hours pass,
I surrender my bones to the venom of sleep.

I sink into velvet, heavy and deep,
as the walls dissolve into violet mist.
I surrender my bones to the venom of sleep,
leaving a world that I barely missed.

As the walls dissolve into violet mist,
pulse-tides surge through my mind.
Leaving a world that I barely missed,
where the clocks of reality shatter and grind.

Pulse-tides surge through my mind,

The way of man

Cold and desperate hungry and alone. The heat is off and no one's home. There's no food in the cupboard , no socks or shoes for my feet , but there's guns and drugs and homeless sexual deviant predators , trolling my street.

Only 8 years old when I learned, sometimes even the good guys are bad. And if you get caught talking to the wrong crooked cop, you'll end up a corpse stuffed in a bag.

Dumped in the Mississippi or left in the alley. Another casualty of society, a nameless faceless, nobody just another Cold Case to be forgotten.

Star Bound - A Tribute to Joshua Bond

Poets, they may come and go

While others are here to stay

And though some you’ll never know

The ones you meet…change your fate

Such were my travels when I was Deep Underground

The harder side of poetry was never the same

When I met a man from Portugal, Mr. Bond

With poetic skill and craft worthy of world fame

And for years the ideas and thoughts he conveyed

Gave me a new perspective when it comes to verse

His collection of works can delve into the soul
