Literally Me

Literally Me

I'm a literal poet
I write what I think
Some thoughts are dark gray
While others bright pink
Hidden meanings
Are locked in my mind
Don't bother searching
For what you can't find
My moods play a role
With words I put down
They may make you smile
Or wear a clown frown
Long story short
We all write our own way
And a literal poet
I'll most likely stay

Tears 1

What is a tear but proof that the soul cries.
The less fortunate are smothered with lies.
They are tormented by life’s inequities.
Driven to the brink of existence and berated.
Living in a reality that is filled with hatred.
Hatred of place and position with only despair.
Hatred of life and personal condemnation.

Gazing at Genocide

Children, women and men
Fleeing the call of the siren
Preceding the missiles
The clustered projectiles.

Unrelenting roaring thunder
Bodies rent asunder
A leaden sky overcast
Dreams in the distant past.

Genocide gush or
Trickle-feed terror
Casualties side by side
Victims of Genocide.

Many lives undocumented
Dead souls unaccounted
Senseless insanity
Crimes against humanity.

The Heart is Not a Fist

Sometimes I think,
I get caught up in the arrogant notion;
sometimes I get caught up in the thought
that I know more than I do.

And what I would pay,
what dear price would I spend
to not be so introspective.

I don't know
where the heart is,
or how big it is.
I heard the heart once
described like a fist,
the size of a clenched hand at war,
but I didn't want it told to me that way.

GARISH

into soft flow
a lens congeals
what the edge
conceals

stars hiss
radio translations

across a breadth
a fingertip settles
sending signals

replace my skull

as science advances
all neuron lines or nerves
once connected
if heart beat is still on
by means in ICU
I don't have a clue
why in doubt are you

The human mind is rife
suffer no anger
have no strife
times a changing
man is reinventing
haven't you,
heard of IVF
so many gals have given birth
but only inside their own wombs

Coveted...

Coveted...

touch not
this daunting facade
of polished steel
it is obscurely
out of the way
not on your path
make no detours
to investigate
this remote structure
you are not to know
the secrets
and mysteries
under the veil
of distant demeanor
she is an ice mass
of unbearable cold
exuding arctic winter...
and one indifferent kiss
would dissolve her
into a catastrophic meltdown

Off With His Head

I hear, next year, in Russia, a man will lose his head.
A surgeon's going to cut it off (the radio just said)
with full intent to transplant it (I heard with rising dread)
on someone else's body. I swear it's true, the aforesaid.

On hearing the statistics, my bottom jaw just dropped.
It's going to take him thirty hours, to bring about the swap,
with fifty and one hundred more assisting with the op.,
and once the action has begun, there'll be no chance to stop.

In the Glimmer

In the glimmer of light shining through the Texas Pines
I stand still near dusk aware of a presence a voice.
“Who are you?” I ask startled by the tone and choice
