Unforeseen Love

You are the master of my disguise
Underneath the structure of my skin
Beyond the physical, see’s the soul of a lioness
Protecting my inner being
Unforeseen to the human mind
Grasping on to the future
A future ever so torn
Torn from the thorn of the anger of my inner beast
Calm now little one
Time to rest from the wicked
The wicked of this cruel cruel world

Neopoet AI [2026-06]

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:

The poem's central conceit is intriguing: a beloved who perceives the speaker's hidden, lioness-like interior self. The shift in the final lines to a lullaby-like address, "Calm now little one," carries genuine tenderness and offers an unexpected tonal turn that feels earned. Those closing lines are the poem's most distinctive moment.

The main area for development is consistency of focus. The poem moves quickly between several large ideas, the disguise, the soul, the future, anger, rest, and the world's cruelty, without giving any of them enough space to become vivid. A concrete image or scene, something sensory and specific, would anchor these abstractions and let the reader feel rather than only follow the speaker's emotional state. The line "Torn from the thorn of the anger of my inner beast" is an example where the accumulation of nouns and abstract words crowds out clarity; slowing down and choosing one strong image there would sharpen the impact considerably. It is also worth revisiting the apostrophe in "see's," which reads as a grammatical slip rather than an intentional choice.
