Sleep like a tree
I am holding in my hands a pillow, soaked with tears drops from years of misery i’ll fold up in my fears. It’s not much but it helps when there’s just nobody here.
it catches all my desperation in the form of a tear. It doesn’t answer back. It just listens, catching all that I have to drop. I only wish it had the intuition to tell me when to stop. so tired of battling these demons inside my head I tried casting off all these words that they said, but they hang with me like a bad habit always does. silently searching for the answers in these tears,
releasing all the emotions that I’ve crushed through the years. but I guess now it’s time to stand up and listen to what they have to say. They seem to want to relieve me of any spirit I have for today. i’m just tired of being broken because on the inside it really shows
outside I look fine.
but inside I’m really the only one who knows
the insurrection that comes with pain.
The fear of not knowing is there anything left to gain. Or just the ability to acquire one more step ahead.
Is this life really over? and is it worth being dead.
I walk amongst the living with my eyes cast down, afraid to crack a smile afraid to bust a frown.
a sillouette from the shadow of the person i used to be
Not quite knowing falsehood from reality
So much going on in this head of mine
Searching for a pause button to slow down time
But that can’t happen, and I know it never will.
so just shut up Eric and take another pill!
Give time time is what I hear them say
But time cant guarantee another willful day

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:
The poem carries genuine emotional weight, and the pillow as a central image — something that absorbs grief without responding — is a quietly effective conceit. The line "a silhouette from the shadow of the person I used to be" earns its place: it layers displacement on displacement and feels lived-in rather than borrowed. The shift in the final stanza, where the speaker names himself and mentions medication, lands with real force precisely because it breaks the poem's lyrical remove and becomes blunt and personal.
The main craft challenge is consistency of register. Much of the poem moves between searching, image-driven language and phrases that feel closer to paraphrase — "releasing all the emotions that I've crushed through the years" tells the reader what to feel rather than letting the imagery do that work. Where the poem shows — the pillow catching tears, the eyes cast down, afraid of either expression — it is stronger than where it summarizes. Tightening the middle section by cutting or replacing its more explanatory lines, and trusting the concrete details already present, would let the emotional argument accumulate with more pressure. The line breaks also seem to follow paragraph logic rather than poetic logic; choosing line endings that create meaningful pauses or small surprises would give the piece more control over how a reader moves through it.
