Putting it Away

When my brothers and I were young
we would fight over almost anything.

As we grew up, I thought we could put all that away.
But I miscalculated our need to live the lives we chose.

Still, I sometimes imagine us sitting together
in a favorite pub, our drinks half-finished, talking endlessly.

And I would always pay for another round
so we could stay a while longer.

I think...

that I've got it right. Your brothers and yourself, never did give up the fighting? You just imagined that one day, you would all be able to sit in the bar and have a few beers, and you would pay for another round, just to stay a little while longer? I love that you still have the emotion in there. I guess there are people in every family that we could wish to be closer with. Nice stuff, ~ Geez.

Hi Geez! We did give up…

Hi Geez! We did give up fighting, for the most part. I was trying to convey that for many reasons, siblings can grow far apart, fighting being one of them. It's a bit of melancholy wishing we could be closer than things turned out. I have a great relationship with my youngest brother, which I cherish.
