My Heart

He is the keeper of my heart
He holds it in his handsM every beat belongs to him
Beat after beat, sings a sweet lullaby

My heart is his to protect and keep
Guarding it from any sorrow
He always makes it Skip a beat
Putting my love for him on repeat

My heart is for him now and forever
To love and cherish to the grave
Please be tender with your touch
For my heart can be quite fragile

He is etched into my heart for all eternity
He’s tatted on my soul
My heart will always belong to him
Because he is the keeper of my heart

Neopoet AI (premium) [2026-06]

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:

This poem centers on a single sustained metaphor — the beloved as the keeper of the heart — and returns to that phrase at both the opening and close, which gives the piece a circular, song-like frame. That deliberate return is one of the poem's strongest structural choices; ending on the same line that began it lends a sense of vow or refrain, fitting for a poem about lasting devotion.

The auditory imagery in the first stanza works well. The heartbeat as a sound the beloved holds, and the beats that "sings a sweet lullaby," ties the physical pulse to music in a way that feels earned rather than merely decorative. The line about the heart skipping a beat and love being "on repeat" extends that musical thread with a light, contemporary touch.

Where the poem could develop further is in its reliance on familiar phrasing. Expressions like "to love and cherish to the grave" and "now and forever" carry the sentiment but arrive already worn from frequent use, so they ask little of the reader and reveal little that is specific to this particular speaker and this particular beloved. The poem is strongest when it reaches for its own images, as with the lullaby of the heartbeat or the beloved "tatted on my soul," which pairs a modern, tactile detail with the older idea of something etched permanently. Leaning into more of those concrete, unexpected images — and trusting them in place of the more general declarations — would let the feeling land with more force.

One shift worth considering: the third stanza turns to direct address ("Please be tender with your touch") after the rest of the poem speaks about the beloved in the third person. That change of who is being spoken to is a striking moment, but it appears only once. Deciding whether to hold to the third-person description throughout or to develop the direct plea more fully would clarify the poem's voice and make that turn feel intentional rather than incidental.

A few small mechanical slips appear in the text — "handsM" and the capitalized "Skip" mid-line — which are likely typing errors worth cleaning up so they do not distract from the reading.

Very tender

What a tender, heartfelt (no pun intended) poem. I can tell that this person was very special to the speaker, I don’t know whether you are the speaker so I don’t want to presume. But it’s written with such care. My only advice would be to avoid too much repetition and there’s some unclear capitalization in the poem and maybe it’s worth taking a look if it’s intentional or just the site being weird
