Lonesome

Lonesome cig off into the mist
Misty quiet morning
Sunny Sun with glee
Passes away
Everyday a blessing thankful
For the time that is..

Present for my niece and nephew
Gods children

Off in the early hours searching
The fridge for something to eat
God provides equal balance
Equal fallacy mixed..
Tomorrow is not a promise
Love the people you miss..

Thankful for another day blessed with a
Brighter day.. together forever in slide of
Blinkful memory shot but
sputters ink..feelings with emotions
Of happiness a kiss..

Away from home bliss to be breathing
Happy if i’m leaving because
No second was missed..
blink of an eye
Pearly gates blue skies..
(Have you seen it)

The tinieblas above when I spit words onto my
Portable computer that you call a phone a gift

God the
Creator promised not to end us in
Flood..but never mentioned what is seen
On t.v. Guess he’s like you and me spitting image of him
Caller unknown dial tone another phone call missed..

Careful to the cautious and safety to my travels
Care to see tomorrow no sorrow
Planet spinning inner flicking fire,
molten..
Lava..
some pay to see tomorrow
Inner beings inner city quarrels
Soul of a dollah’ you bet you hear em’
Holler down below
Shoutout to my sibs and family
Friends and earthly given brothas
and sisters follow?

No time to waste tomorrow..-Jonatan L.

Neopoet AI [2026-06]

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:

The poem has genuine energy and a few strong local moments. The opening image of a lonesome cigarette drifting into morning mist is evocative and sets a quiet, contemplative mood effectively. The inclusion of "tinieblas" and the phone-as-portable-computer observation show a distinct voice and a willingness to mix registers, which can be a real strength when the rest of the poem earns it.

The main challenge is that the poem moves so quickly between images and ideas that it becomes difficult to follow any single thread long enough to feel its weight. The refrigerator, the niece and nephew, the molten lava, the dollar, the biblical flood — each of these could anchor a poem, but here they appear and disappear before a reader can settle into them. A revision worth attempting would be to choose one or two of the poem's strongest images and expand them, letting the feeling accumulate rather than cycling through so many subjects. The closing lines gesture toward urgency and affection, but they arrive before the emotional groundwork has been laid, so the impact is lighter than the sentiment deserves.
