I Remember It Happening Kindly

Rewriting Memory

“You must remember this…”

As the days fly away on the wings of old dreams
An impulsive memory returns and lingers
Those years are long gone and won’t stop for anyone
Like the sands of time slipping between our fingers

It abruptly rises from the caves of the mind
With fire and warmth reliving it once again
But in the now, as if through rose colored glasses
The picture feels softer when remembering when…

The senses indulge even for those few seconds
Remembering youth, remembering innocence
Like a small treasure trove forgotten in the past
Like gold shining in the light of reminiscence

Triggered by a song, by a lyric, or a scent
A life lived and loved is recalled with bestowment
It’s a penny for a thought, for only one cent
Going down that lane for just a little moment

A kiss is just a kiss

A sigh is just a sigh…

Time doesn’t just go by. At least for those that choose to be, this poem is in the know! 🙏🏻🕊️

I Remember it Happening Kindly

For a while, I wanted to host a contest (in another website) about everyone's first kiss, however I know it can be a little personal for some. I recently re-watched Casablanca and the song was stuck in my head, so why not quote it and remember it kindly.

Thank you for reading and commenting.

The film rewatched

sometime ago, I re-watched Casablanca after being inspired to write a poem about one of its famous (misquoted) lines, "Play it again, Sam" (sic) as you aptly remarked "why not quote it and remember it kindly." In my case, stumble over the misquote, still kindly remembering. 🕊️🙏🍿🎥🎞️📽️🎬🎦

These are my favorite lines...

It abruptly rises from the caves of the mind
With fire and warmth reliving it once again
But in the now, as if through rose colored glasses
The picture feels softer when remembering when…

This gave me some thoughts about remembering and how certain smells and sounds can shift your focus and drag you into thoughts of days gone by.
Thanks for pleasant thoughts, ~ Geez.

I Remember it Happening Kindly

Thanks for sharing Geez,

Yes, there are certain perfumes or scents that send us right back, like a time machine, to those days of youth. For me, it was this song. I mentioned in a previous comment, that a contest about a first kiss will always hold a fond memory for everyone.

I Remember it Happening Kindly

Thank you Lavender.

I believe most our "firsts" tend to be tender and kind, especially if they have a special place in our hearts and memories.
