Homeostasis
Neutral, an unassuming environment
Is the way they build rapport
Conflicting silence
Just enough careful cull and lull
For the question of how
To live my truths, these attention-seeking moods
Confusingly...I'm learning
The harmony of dissonant co-dependence
Is the way beings sing
Oh the stagnation, of this constant weather system!
Rain drains so change could remain
Oh the sky's swinging a full compass again
Rhythm's gradated, problem's regulated
I sweat
Away life's hot sticky mess
Green plants grow plump (because of the grey muds that pump my blood)
We plan for the young (with our rusty husky lust amongst us)
Artists shaped by dynamics
At risk of melodrama
At risk of looking smug smart
The cold hard heart fuels the soppy bubbly mind
My sluggish pirouette against
Fleeting wind that carries time
"The past ends where the present tense shines"
But under the grey limelight
Of chiaroscuro, I'm no villain nor hero
Consciousness loving visions, blessed with treason of incomprehension, of true photons
We con artists are conned
Yet at risk of nirvana, oh this constant melodrama
Chances are low, but never zero: as above so below
Confusingly, I'm evolving...
Oh tiny poet with mighty poetry
Just tries to want to be.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:
The poem's strongest moments are its sonic ones. Lines like "Rain drains so change could remain" and "Rhythm's gradated, problem's regulated" have a genuine musicality, and the parenthetical asides in the green-plants stanza ("because of the grey muds that pump my blood," "with our rusty husky lust amongst us") create a pleasingly unexpected texture, as though a second, earthier voice is annotating the first. The title Homeostasis earns its place: the biological metaphor of a system struggling to maintain equilibrium does thread through the imagery of weather, sweating, blood, and photons in a way that feels intentional rather than decorative.
The main difficulty is that abstraction accumulates faster than it can be grounded. Phrases such as "conflicting silence," "dissonant co-dependence," "treason of incomprehension," and "consciousness loving visions" arrive in close succession without a concrete image or moment to anchor them, so the cumulative effect is of a mood being gestured at rather than rendered. The closing couplet illustrates the risk: "Oh tiny poet with mighty poetry / Just tries to want to be" summarizes the poem's emotional stance rather than enacting it, which lets the air out just where tension should resolve. A useful revision strategy would be to take one of those abstract phrases and ask what specific sensory scene or action it is trying to compress, then let that scene do the work instead. The poem clearly has range and rhythmic instinct; giving those instincts a more concrete surface to push against would sharpen the whole.
