A friend or a foe !!
A ghost always chases me
from place to place.
I see its body
but never its face.
It often grows tall,
of my size or short,
with a shadowy trace
that none ever caught.
I'd stop and ask,
though I'll never know,
for it never says
if it's friend or foe.

A lovely thought in this theme and well written..
Have you ever heard of shadow boxing, it is a way of training for boxers from a few years ago not sure if it is used these days, A boxer would stand in the ring and fight his own shadow as a training item, not sure if anyone ever won in this type of fight but much safer lol.
Take care young Lady and a lovely thought from being a child..
Yours as always Ian.T

You must be young enough to know of shadow boxing
Though I use to see a man doing this just outside of Farrs place in Westbury Wilts but that was when I was very young lol ????

thank you Mr. Crud
I appreciate the critique but
I thought I kept (almost) steady iambic through out
Could you please point out where exactly
I failed or/and how to amend
Thank you

Hey Rula
A nice innocent poem of something seen through the eyes of a child. 3rd line, you change tense using "I'd" instead of I. Doesn't really detract that much if intentional but thought I'd point it out in case it isn't..............stan
