Like the cross
On the mantel
Too dry to live
Too sharp to touch
An off-white once
Running with
Boys’ tears.

Coral Piece

Hello, Stewart,

My interpretation lends itself to the end of things, and the loss of innocence.   A haunting, powerful poem.

Thank you,

Lavender

I hope that you haven't had to suffer as much as it seems that you may have described in the poem. A very good write!

Thank you for your comments. I have been ill most of my adult life. Still, no, I haven’t suffered quite that much. Thank you.    Stewart

I read this...

as though you were remarking on the loss of your youth and then remembering that it wasn't all that great to begin with. ~ Geezer.
