Bird of pray
Pain has become
a bird of prey
that tears pieces
from a part of my being,
a ghostly liver that
bleeds continuously.
When I pass by places
that remind me of you
I feel the bite of the bird
and the blood that leaves me.
I don't know
what's happening to me
but I know for sure that
I'm not an immortal god
guilty of having revealed
a terrible secret
to the human kind.
I'm just a man
who feels the blood
of a guilty pain
flowing.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:
This poem uses the metaphor of a "bird of prey" to embody pain, which is a compelling and vivid image. The metaphor effectively conveys the sense of relentless suffering, as the bird "tears pieces" and causes continuous bleeding. The phrase "ghostly liver" is intriguing and unusual, suggesting an internal, spectral wound, though it might benefit from clarification or further development to deepen its impact.
The poem's emotional core is clear: the speaker is haunted by memories tied to a specific person, and the pain feels both physical and existential. The lines "I don't know / what's happening to me" and the reference to not being an "immortal god" introduce a tension between human vulnerability and mythic or divine suffering, which adds a philosophical dimension. However, the phrase "guilty of having revealed / a terrible secret / to the human kind" is somewhat ambiguous and might distract from the poem’s emotional immediacy. Clarifying this idea or integrating it more seamlessly could strengthen the poem’s coherence.
The closing lines emphasize the speaker’s humanity and the tangible nature of their pain, which grounds the poem effectively. Consider varying the rhythm or line length to enhance the flow and emotional resonance. Additionally, exploring more sensory details or concrete imagery could make the experience more immersive.
Overall, the poem has a strong metaphorical foundation and emotional honesty. Refining certain images and clarifying abstract references would enhance its clarity and impact.
