I am me
I am the only person I can see,
That truly looks after me.
The girl who cried, all alone
City girl, but nowhere is home.
I have watched me age,
I have seen me grow.
Observed my highs
And witnessed all my lows.
I've dried my own tears
When I go to sleep.
Take myself for ice cream
For a midweek treat.
I eat when I want to,
And go where I please
I know what I've been through.
Because I am me...

I really love this. I write…
I really love this. I write dirty realism, so I’m always drawn to simple, honest writing, and this hits the mark. You don't hide behind fancy metaphors or grand ideas—you just tell the truth. The line about taking yourself for ice cream is great because it makes a big feeling like self-reliance feel totally real and grounded. It’s simple, relatable, and deeply true.
Look forward to reading more of your work.

Thanks
Thankyou so much, I was asked who loves me, and I've had alot of emotional abuse from partners and my parents abused me and stole from me.
So I guess it's only me I can rely on, and you're right I could use alliteration and assonance and make it all fancy but that's not who I am.

Maybe that's why we write,…
Maybe that's why we write, pain and poetry go hand in hand. Pain holds the pen; we just sign our names.
Wishing you all the goodness in the world.
