The Call

Phone rings.
I say hello.
The voice on the other line is unknown.
Who is this person.
how does he know me.
I shake.
Tears roll down my face.
The thought of losing you hurts.
My mind says to ask questions,
But I can not speak.
The voice tells me something.
I only hear Car accident and Hospital.
Tears flood my eyes,
I hang up.
How could this be happening.
Not you ,
Not now.

excellent!

my only suggestion is to add a little something after the third line to capture the moment of fear, uncertainty, perhaps irritation of what a strangers voice on the phone can be a prelude to. Cheers, Jess, Praise helps no poet, have the courage and generousity to give critique.
