NOT OVER

Well they finally fixed the leak
I know 'cause I just took a peek
I realize that it was tough
but it took them long enough

Do you think crises is over?
then ask the oil coated plover
its just the end of oil leaking
that's not all that we are seeking

The cleanup is and always was
   primary mission of this cause
not all oil has surfaced yet
to threaten so much land thats wet

How long 'fore gulf folks get their wish
to resume business and start to fish
   their entire economy
is far from what it used to be

Does instigator expect praise?
thats a pasture they won't graze
praise for doing what they should !
makes me laugh both loud and good

I share most the local's fears
   normalcy won't return for years
who knows how long  that it will be
   before gulf is really oil-free

Great job, Stan. Love the title, great theme and rhythm. I share most the local’s fears normalcy won’t return for years who knows how long that it will be before gulf is really oil-free Wonderful way to end this thought-provoking poem! Dear Stan

We have watched with horror as BHP strived to stop the leak we are all hoping and praying that it holds tight and continues to waylay the flood love and hugs JayCee (“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson quote)

Impressive write!

Great write again Scribbler! There's one tiny tweak in the second stanza on line 8: 'thats' should have an apostrophe.

Hi Scribbler, Certainly a very timely write. You did well(no pun intended) with a tough subject. I too, feel it will be years before we fully know the true damage all this has caused. Thanks for sharing. Sue
