a heartbeat away

a heartbeat away

ceiling patterns change

day progresses and passes

light from different angles,

shadows of multiple shades

conceptions, conceits, cogitations

arrive, stand present, leave, or linger

while new shoes create blisters

on feet used to no shoes at all

music from basement dives

filters onto street’s hardness

softens it for a moment,

then gone

we all are a moment away from

total humiliation, and we still

try the deal out

to steal out

a bit for ourselves ~~

a moment or two of what

we may name bliss

while lights stare down,

not from the sun, but made

by man lining streets

empty

our volition waivers

we try to see backroad

our feet walked yesterday

find it gone, but memory of it

exhausted the way

again and a day

brilliance of neurons firing

thoughts alive and well

gimme some of that ol’ timey

grease

gimme some reverence

have a heart from where your heart

lives

chimes of morning ring

break our fast

startled by a new day

constructed once more

from retrospect’s province

light the way with curiosity

a melody in your brain --

a memoir

liberate your only mind

nirvana is waiting

a heartbeat away.

A very powerful poetic picture of life!

Not knowing if this piece stems from experience or just empathy, would normally limit my ability to critique it. However, this poem cries for attention and deserves everything one can say about it! Great job!

Loved, Someone was annoyed? Not quite certain what that means; you must have seen something that I missed. Thank you for the read and comment. Ciao, Victor
