The Hearts They're Printed On
Beauty fades,
memory, too
what lingers is almost gone;
but everything
that's e'er been said,
affects the heart that it's printed on.
~
There will arrive
a time to feel,
like taking back all you've said;
but, you'll soon see
how bad they're hurt,
because those words swim in their head.
~
Each day is
a blank canvas,
I'll be careful to say and act;
the way I feel,
overall;
to respond, and not react.
~
I've done harm
to many minds,
and when I think the hurt is gone;
I find myself
repairing all,
the hearts, my words are printed on.
memory, too
what lingers is almost gone;
but everything
that's e'er been said,
affects the heart that it's printed on.
~
There will arrive
a time to feel,
like taking back all you've said;
but, you'll soon see
how bad they're hurt,
because those words swim in their head.
~
Each day is
a blank canvas,
I'll be careful to say and act;
the way I feel,
overall;
to respond, and not react.
~
I've done harm
to many minds,
and when I think the hurt is gone;
I find myself
repairing all,
the hearts, my words are printed on.
