Yellow Red Blues

yellow red blue
     flashing
yellow red blue

neon littered faces
vacancy signed
stoop dwellers
dope dazed
talkin' shoe shines
crystal eyed
talkin' shoe shines

hot tamale temper
3rd floor walk-up
window hopping mad
      cursing
hombre/ nino/ lover
shots fired
no one inquires

back alley moans
drunk john
strokes his gun
     she can't run
pimp sees
bloody shiv retrieved
slaps her to the ground

trash cans bongo
traffic creeps
radios radiate
big city beat
siren searing
grimacing art
gut wrenched blues
tears you apart

     flashing
yellow red blue
     flashing
yellow red blue
      .................
Saturday night in America
can break your heart

My favorite lines: hot tamale temper 3rd floor walk-up window hopping mad cursing hombre/ nino/ lover hot shots fired no one inquires I liked the presentation and the last two lines pulled the poem together well. Always, Cat

As trong emotional/visual image

well executed, the short lines maintain the pace of hectic urbia Cheers, Jess, Praise helps no poet, have the courage and generousity to give critique.
