Shadowy Whispers

I hear the whispers, in the blowing breeze,
The laughter that taunts me, it's in the trees.
Beckoning me to join the dance,
Making sure I know It's my last chance.

They want to take me,make me their own,
Telling me their love is like none I've known,
I can almost feel them caress my cheek,
I fear them fiercely, I cannot speak.

"Come to us," I hear them plead,
"We have it all, everything that you need."
I do not wish to follow the light,
I will stay where I am, I choose to fight.

"Go away" I tell them, I don't want you here,
"If  I have faith in this world, I have nothing to fear,
I want to live, and walk in the sun,
I will join you, when I've decided I'm done.

I loved this!

I will also get to reading your other brilliant works, as I was away from the internet for a little while, but I've read it over a few times to comprehend the beauty in your words, I loved this part especially; '“Go away” I tell them, I don’t want you here, “If I have faith in this world, I have nothing to fear"' A very deep write that I was glad to read! Sincerely, Lil Z

Dear Elizabeth

A very moving poem. I enjoyed the read about death's invitation and your refusal. My favorite lines: “Go away” I tell them, I don’t want you here, “If I have faith in this world, I have nothing to fear, I want to live, and walk in the sun, I will join you, when I’ve decided I’m done. Love, Cat
