Red Rivened
the saffron streetlmap glow
lifts through the dewy branch
the cloy shadow
the fat leaves spinning in nights breath
slept to darkness a day ago
and slept through today
exhausted
sometimes it happens
and in the dreamfeild picking
ways cross bridges
through houses long lost
and voices not heard
in decades
charade went on and on
the chrome of the cars winking
in the parking lot
the rain singing
on the soft curved windshield
listening to the wind creak
as it shuttles around
the teardrop bending like notes
the seat making noises as I
shove myself to a better
position leaning with my
head against the cold glass
morning a million miles
away
sunrise red rivened and stretched
the birds speaking
the road waiting
drive to away
to be
of all that was and never could
