Puppet Life Blind 3: Heart Of Greed

i rode a taxi way home
we passed along shanties,cracked roads..
beggars way the streets, begging for food,
i wonder where the money is spend to

the headlines are the same for a month,
the same threads in bulletins and fora,
"the president's latest trip costs $12-M", one newspaper said,
God! it could feed million streetchildren in a summertime...

i then thought why flying by to other nations?
when we ourselves were drowning in a sea of poverty?
illiteracy,deforestation...epidemics.....corruption...,
poor Philippines!a cancer of the society is breaking out...

impeach!resign! groups are crying out...
but the Palace by the River has its doors closed,
courtesy call?where?
there on a phone conversation with a European leader...

why is this happening?ask the dead Rizal or the late Marcos,
and they'll point you that sinful Seat.....
dollars and dollars..pesos and pesos..trips and trips....
for peace?really?

whites catter wrote a realistic poem in tune with the predicament we face now. Disparity occurs everywhere, and only the fittest survive. Nature showers talents on some, and some others are destined to suffer. It seems that no force can save the downtrodden whom Nature detests!
