I see with one Eye open

I see with one eye open
With the closed I see the light

And with the open all the devil has erected
His kingdom which stretches to the horizon

which stretches to the borders of the universe
A small thing indeed

I will not get too comfortable in these clothes
Nor complacent in these arms

These kisses a mere reminder
That what is to come divides me

Completely from the flesh of this world
And the utter joys of this world

Like an owl from a cave am I
Ascending to the sky

She is a distant star
I am humbled by her beauty

But this is transitory
I seek for what is not

I seek not the eye, the ear the lip of beauty
the breast or vale

I know that she can be found by the dozen in hell
And by the myriad thousand in heaven

But only one on earth
Ah there she is unmatched

My heart speaks: "If I miss you for a single day
What must death be like?

A river I can cross only once
The shore from which you will greet me

That being of you that I see now
When you are no more flesh

No wonder my soul craves to be there
Though my body quakes in shadows

The lie that this world is so much better
That the love of this world is not a path

To the greater love to come
How vast it may seem

To love the sea and love the sun
It is as small as you as great as one

A drop of water in the desert is the kingdom
And how sweet to the throat of the parched

I seek the ocean, to bathe and die
Are but the same, ask one who knows

Even the blind can see heaven
Can map its route

Even the deaf can hear its music
Echoing in the world

The bell which tolls in all beings
Tolls for eternity...

I’m surprised no one has

I'm surprised no one has commented, this is very good. Fast paced to read, cascades down like a rapids. I really enjoyed reading. raskin

Its a new one, thanks Raskin

Its a new poem I only wrote it tonight, thank you very much for your kind words. Another one noone seems to like is "Tenebrae". I don't know if its a personality thing, or just a bad poem. john

“Ask not for whom the bell

"Ask not for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee". Dalton, Rumi & John Donne all rolled into one. ;-) ~A "There is a kind of mysticism to writing." ~ Irvine Welsh

Decidedly delightful to read!

Rolls of the tongue and into the inner ear with the fluidity of quicksilver! Your use of language is impeccable, and worthy of five stars indeed!
