I Wonder

I wonder how people love and get knotted,

With the acuteness of immeasurable feelings;

Established in veins of each other’s heart,

And much exalted in the eyes of this world.

They celebrate love and wealth and relations,

For these are the ingredients of ultimate bliss;

Accumulating knowledge or universal wisdom,

Brain brimmed with calm and meditation.

I wonder how someone is greatly loved,

With all his evils that turn into blessings;

For whom the beloved is ready to die,

Valuing the whole world like a dry twig.

For them it’s easy to leave the entire world,

For a single soul they love all their life;

Embracing those criticisms from all quarters,

And rejecting all laws and facing strife.

I wonder how their commitments are firm,

To live together on the edge of the rapier;

Crushing every impediment under their feet,

And being light as the feather of any dove.

They say, “We are here to kindle our yearning,

And this world is ephemeral and brief;

Find your love till the end of your breath;

Far from the image of Shelly’s grief”.

Ayaz...

Welcome to Neopoet... this poem you've penned is very good, and I thank you for sharing it with us. For me, it could do with an edit, just some connecting words omitted but... very good, and the connecting words may just correlate with the old English look into Percy's poetry, so I'm not even too sure about my suggestion. I'm not as familiar as you are, obviously, because I'm not sure as to which poem you are referring to, can you tell me... with that being said, without the added information at the bottom of the poem, I would not have known what the last line meant, but I can't help but feel there were clues that I didn't see because, like I mentioned, I've not read all of Shelley's works, but I have read some, just went and looked up the biography, very interesting. thanks for that, and welcome again Richard

Thanks Richard

Thank you very much that you took time in reading my poem and guided me. Well, I am not referring to any particular poem of Shelley, but in general and exaggeratedly he is a sad poet. That's what the last line of this poem implies, (which apparently means that I am not that sad like Shelley). Again, thank you so much, Richard.

Ayaz...

No, I thank you, the poem is good and I found it mysterious which is why I looked Shelley up, he does seem as if he had a sad life, at least parts of it, but he did impact the world with his writing... I read where his Father disowned him for his stand against religion, must have been very hard for him to make such a stand during that time in history. His first wife wrote "Frankenstein", or was it his second, I forget, but it was after him and a couple of other writers got together on the water and decided to write a ghostly experience. There is a pretty detailed biography about him on Poets.org it is a place I go to read many of the great poets and learn more each time I go. Nice to meet you, I hope you enjoy yourself here... jump in and leave comments on other poets works, let them know you are here. Richard

Dear Richard!

Dear Richard, you are really great, not only in words, but also in its meaning. The way you talk and make me understand the things is really nice. You not only commented on my poem but also gave me the line to come forward to comment on other fellow poets' works which is very important and of course they will know that I am here. I shall follow your advice. Thanks again. Regards. Ayaz Warith

Just as our wonderful moonman suggested a couple edits here to shorten it up a bit with out taking away the meaning of the write would be great. If not your on your way to growing in your own style and styles of others here at Neopoet. We all look forward to working with you. Nice to meet you this day. Love Magics Mona
