Good ta see ya, Storm

As the sky howls, as it roars,
As it unleashes its formidable deluvian power,
As it turns the streets into rivers
And forces all but a few brave - or foolish? - souls
To run for cover, and there to cower,

As the sky seems to scream out its rage, its wrath,
At us puny mortals,
I find myself wondering:

Is it really angry?
Could it be that the sky
Is having a roaring good time?
Is it perhaps laughing at some joke
That the sea, or maybe the moon, just made?

Or is it simply reveling in its own power,
In the fear and awe it provokes?

Perhaps, just perhaps, it's a simple matter of clouds becoming saturated with humidity.

Somehow I doubt it.

Dear Antoine

Excellent. I love the title and the theme of this piece.Gives food for thought. My favorite lines: Is it really angry? Could it be that the sky Is having a roaring good time? Is it perhaps laughing at some joke That the sea, or maybe the moon, just made? Always, Cat

Thanks,

Glad you liked it! It was a very quick write, really write not type as I had turned off the laptop due to the storm. I keep turning it off and then back on when there's a break in the storm. Antoine

Stormy

PP, this is a great piece. I could feel and see the storm and I loved your questioning of why. I also like the structure, or lack of it...it worked a dream. The strongest and most vivid image you painted was from this line: As it unleashes its formidable deluvian power. Grammatically, perfect. HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Thanks Hood!

Glad you liked it. It's different than what I usually do, and I think it's good for me to try out different things. I wasn't sure how it would be seen by others, so far so good. Antoine

Thanks, glad you like it,

Do you think line 6 would be less off if I said "As [it] seems to scream out its rage, its wrath," that would make it a bit shorter? Originally that's how it was, but I decided there were too many "it"s. Tough call, I'll have to review. Antoine

Thanks everyone!

To those still suffering from the heat wave, I'll ask the storm to give you a visit. Not that it usually listens to me but you never know. Antoine

I had a thought for the first line of your poem As the sky howls, as it roars, As the sky howls, it roars, has a better flow and lucidity for me love JayCee (Quote~~"It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. Thanks JayCee!

I will consider your suggestion when I rewrite this, I do have too much "as it"s in there. (I'm way overdue for rewriting all my stuff...) Antoine
