Unfaithful Heart

Why, my heart, have you stopped your faithful and forward march
Your step now falters and wanders
As if you are unsure of yourself

What are your intentions
I need to know
After all, it is my life you have in tow

"Yes", my heart drearily  replied,
This is true, however, it was you
It was you, who broke this heart

You did eat properly, you worked too many hours
Never enough sleep, and on and on
With the stress and worry, I might add

This may be true, I retorted, but after all
I am a mother, I am a nurse
These were things I had to do

It was you, dear heart, that failed
You who could not keep up with my many footsteps
My busy mind, and the endless list of things to do

"You bore me whispered my heart
Do what you must do
Just be aware, that I have an agenda, too

Hello Linda, welcome back

I like this; it's very clever and makes one think. With your own comment you could edit it and say something about your poem or anything else, as you can't delete it. Just a couple of wee typos... “Yes”, my heart {drearly} replied, …………..[drearily] This is true, howerever, it was you …………..[however] ...just want to help Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell
