A Table For Two

Mr. Lonely
Would you like the usual?
Table for one by the balcony

Sitting alone listening to
Conversations of lovers
As they drink chardonnay
Celebrating harmony

Watching two lips interlock
As laughter can be heard
Oh, don’t you miss it

Look at the gentleman
Pulling out the chair
For his priceless jewel

It has been years
Since your heart
Has loved another

Let yesterday evaporate
Welcome today as a present
For you deserve
A table for two

Paul...

You are truly finding your way... this is generous and honest, two factors that great writes most assuredly have in common... well done. I would've left out the "two" in the third stanza, but that is me, and really the only thing I have to offer in the way of critique. yes... enjoyed it. Richard

Well done Paul

You have really come into you own this year. I echo Rishard's assessment. Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

Very Nicely Done

Very nicely done, Paul. I especially loved the ending. Great job. Love-Faith ~I never say anything I don't mean nor do I say anything to be mean.~

Just desserts? Even in

Just desserts? Even in sadness of aloneness there is love's honest hope. Nice. A table for *her* as the last line? ~ The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected. G.K. Chesteron
