I Thought I Knew What I Was Dreaming

I thought I knew
What I was dreaming:

The night time walks
And daytime talks
The future pledged of seeing;

The midnight phone calls
And certain gewgaws
The heart defined of meaning;

The swapping letters
And evening ventures
No longer seem existed;

The solemn promise
The spirit noticed
Refined and all retracted.

But all seems false
And love seems vain
I have no words of truce,

I'll drudge myself
In scattered pieces
And paint them with my youth.

Excellent penning in this

Excellent penning in this fine poem Dennis. Your words paint the scene so well. Lovely smooth flow to this finely expressed write. Love is a heartache somtimes Dennis. We think it is a beautiful dream, then wake up to being alone and the nightmare of recovery begins! Beautiful work Dennis. Thank You so very much for sharing.

Dear Dennis

Its not often I take to someones poetry as I have yours ... its usually something that grows on me over time ... but in your works I find clarity ... beautiful work as is becoming expected, but I add poignantly sad piece ... love JayCee (Quote~~"It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree. "--Charles Baudelaire)

Dear Dennis

This is fabulous. Love the title and these words have many meanings to me too... "I’ll drudge myself In scattered pieces And paint them with my youth". Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

Thanks Xena

Basically these lines mean picking up the pieces and moving on... something like that. Glad you like it. Thanks :)
