Selachian

Selachian

By Eddy Styx

for too long now

have I lived with the

bitter wound eternally festering

carcinoma in the cockles

of your heart

blind with an unrelenting

Judas Complex

Serrated edges of promises broken

shattered in the jaws

of your decayed lying

sharp-as-splinters teeth

you've taken your bites out of me

your love has changed me

transposed me redisposed me

that's my beating heart

lying on the tiles of the kitchen floor

yet you smile as lie upon lie

clings to your enticing lips

breathlessly I kiss the deceit

from that cool cherry-ripe mouth

greedily gobbling

your toxic candied kisses

while you scoop out my spleen!

Eddy! That blew me away! Splinter-sharp teeth! You could have written script, for the adult-swim cartoon, the Maxx! You have to be a comic-book fan, or at least, of their art! Killer loves this kind of thing! Awesome job, ~ Gee

Cat!

Wow, Cat, you even got me to cringe at that! I was gaffed from the beginning all the way to the end. Eddie hit a home run. I particularly liked that gruesome ending. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Life is the sun, and the show must go on and on; make it come true. Love gone bad is so wonderfully portrayed in this stellar inking Cat. What amazing pictorial grandeur flecks this poem from the first to the last line! A poignant write but so well expressed. Thank You so very much for sharing Cat.

Brilliant!

Especially this part: "that’s my beating heart lying on the tiles of the kitchen floor yet you smile as lie upon lie clings to your enticing lips breathlessly I kiss the deceit from that cool cherry-ripe mouth greedily gobbling your toxic candied kisses while you scoop out my spleen!" The beginning is great, then this part racks up the intensity, right until the grande finale! I just love crescendos. Whoever she is, she sounds like a nasty, nasty woman. Antoine

Is any man worth one spleen?

Is any man worth one spleen? lol. As you know, I don't ordinarily do blood, guts and gore poetry unless it's a bit erotic. But I dig this one and will tuck away *selachian* for another day. ~ "There is a kind of mysticism to writing." ~ Irvine Welsh

Cat, thanks for putting the meaning at the bottom, I had no idea what it was or meant. If nothing else, I have learnt a new word today. This is exquisite. Every word, every line grabbed me and twisted me into Eddy's tainted and evil mind. You certainly got your brushes out today and slowly painted layer upon layer building this canvas into a masterpiece of imagery. Favourite lines: Serrated edges of promises broken shattered in the jaws of your decayed lying sharp-as-splinters teeth Cat, I loved this piece and it could be Mr Styx's best piece to date! Cat, I have missed a few comments too, I think during the last few weeks as the server has begun to die, some things have broken along the way. Currently I am told I have a new private message...I have had that notification for three days now, and I have no messages in my inbox! Happy to edit for you...but don't let Zigs have a go...he can't spell to save his life!!...don't tell him I said that!! Lol! Ok, sleep beckons. love, Dan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Powerful stuff Cat

although the last line left me thinking of Hannibal Lector lol. For me the only line that did not work so well was "carcinoma in the cockles". Carcinoma feels a bit too techical and it does not flow too well. Perhaps you could replace it with the more emotive, if older word, "canker". Cockles reminds me of the song "with cockles and mussels alive alive oh" and thus not quite as serious as you intend. Perhaps "beating" or "throbbing" or if you want to be more anatomical "tissues" or muscles". Just a thought anyway. Really enjoyed the poem. Love from sweet Keith
