Thy Lamb On Thy Felle

Thy lamb on thy felle beo freo
Ant thy gast in thy hathir beo He Lufu for a thee...

He stands against the night
And the passing of day
His palm unconcealed
Has shattered the blade
The crop is spared
And the ox yolk blown in the wind
Scattered to the four gales
The splinters of its frame
As the sands of time

Thy lamb on thy felle beo freo
Ant thy gast in thy hathir beo He lufu for a thee...

A shepherd on the hill
All his flock returned to the play
She a ghost in the breeze
Between night and day
The scythes of winter and summer are one
As the soul in Nature as the man in the Son
His cross is thy flesh
And thy flesh the loom tree
Her branches in light
Spread through heaven
And her roots in thee

The kid on the mountain is free
And the spirit in the heather His love for thee...

one to surely ponder and study

John, first I will say that at least for myself, who is ignorant of old english language, the first stanza is a mystery which I can only guess at... until the end when you kindly translate for us who are not so educated in this old language. The lyricism is beautiful, reading it aloud it has a lovely flow and rhythm. The scythes of winter and summer are one As the soul in Nature as the man in the Son His cross is thy flesh And thy flesh the loom tree Her branches in light Spread through heaven And her roots in thee this is lovely.... the loom tree, not sure what it is but it sounds lovely... I like this verse, her branches in light spread through heaven and her roots in thee of course, as you usually do, these are words to be experienced through the heart and some old memory deeply buried within us. To try to explain it through the mind, at least to me, detracts from its flowing beauty and depth. John, thanks again for being the true Celtic bard for us all, it is a true pleasure to experience this within the often cold and lifeless contemporary English we have to use in the 21st century. Truly you are on fire with imagery and imagination this summer! Love, Leigh "The true miracle is not walking on water or walking in air, but simply walking on this earth." Thich Nhat Hanh

Dear Leigh

Thankyou dearly for your kind sensitive words. This is actually an old poem of mine, and I'm not entirely sure if the words in olde english are as they should be but i did my best, I would like to try and learn abit of cornish too, an old celtic language from the southern part of the island. The man in the poem was supposed to be Jesus. I want to write a poem about Jesus that is non-dogmatic. that does not indoctrinate anyone, or force my beliefs on anyone. My belief is that he came to free all men, not to ensnare them with the chains of religion. thankyou for your presence here, you are a dear friend. john

You are welcome, John. I do

You are welcome, John. I do not think you are dogmatic nor ever forcing your beliefs on anyone, but it is obvious that you love and are fascinated with the old stories and how they appear in various contexts and places in the world, and interweave and join. You teach us all (at least those who care to learn) about the old hebrew myths, and put a kind of beautiful melody to the Christ story which I am sure is appreciated by many here, and also in the wider world. Thanks for your curiosity and wonder, that we may all be illuminated by your own seeking and grasping of the deeper meanings in these stories. Love, Leigh "The true miracle is not walking on water or walking in air, but simply walking on this earth." Thich Nhat Hanh
