OTA A community caught up, betweenExpanding cities of Abeokota and IkejaAjolodo, Ayoka Ibile, Ibuowo, Labo IdireAnd Ayo Ogba masquerades roam the roadsSteeped in tradition with fetish signpostsFrom a jar of water of a strange womanIjamido River flows across to wet the land Scattered with yards in bricks and mudSleeping Policeman on broken tarred roadsPotholes dance with buttocks and stomachA safe homecoming for many, seemingly soRevealed a delusive past in painted imagesAnd white clothes tied around the treesA reminder of the stubborn queen mother I thank you, I greet the KabyesiAnd all the people I see everydayFor the space from where I stand nowThough, far removed from bubbling citiesWith dangling dark amulet, the blind seesWhat the night concealed for yearsYet wedded to the coming light of dawn
