The Yeti

On the mountain ice wept

melting snow scaled down its face.

Unnatural life awakened

breaking free from sleeping.

A warm body once cold

felt the heat of the sun

yawned at daybreak

the beast of time, creeping.

It stretched its weary legs

stood tall in the light of day.

Mystified by the sun

blinded by its sightless eyes.

With limbs like heavy lead

it walked like a newborn

the light strong like fire

It faltered from unfamiliar skies.

A myth of superstition

incoherent on the mountains.

You may have your opinions

a giant Polar Bear, he’s not.

He’s a timeless wanderer

afraid of the awakening

a creature of prehistoric times

from an era nature forgot.

Shy, as he doesn’t belong

he dodges our prying curiosity.

Disappearing into the wilderness

leaving a foot-print behind.

Is he our legendary Big-foot?

the Abominable Snowman

an old fable from the past.

a figment of the mind.

Sometimes they show some

Sometimes they show some tantilizing evidence of bigfoot on tv, a little carrot dangling to keep us wondering - all part of the intrigue - who knows maybe there is a creature hidden out there. Great poem Xena, thanks for sharing Love Mand xxx

Dear Mand

I love these old fables. And I believe that it does exist, but a little shy and confused, which to me implies intelligence. If I was he/she, I’d want to stay in hiding from this new world that he may have awakened to from centuries ago. Our world never learns from the past. Thank you so much Mand. The Snow Queen...

I'm sure I saw that one. There's a lot of people who really believe in `Big Foot`, a creature that was awakened by Global Warming even before we knew that it was a big problem for the future of Earth. But he/she chooses to hide from us. Can you blame it? Thanks a lot Annie. Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

as a myth or a story is formed it is taken in by each being's dream's or wants, which in time clarify who we are.either as a species or as an individual, and as we guide our own way in examination. we all must justify our own. well written, I very much enjoyed the journey.. John

What a delightfully penned

What a delightfully penned write this is Xena, taking the writer on a journey to meet the legendary Yeti. Filled with superb visual detail, the poem is enchanting to read and is so finely narrated in it's crafting. A topic much spoken about and now so finely turned into a brilliant poem. Enjoyed reading very much Xena and I thank you for so kindly sharing it with me.

mushed up in about 300g honey eat a teaspoonful on the hour for a day, then as desired (joke not with the word desired, you feel the relief) the first mouthful is absolutely gross and hard to swallow, but persevere and by the second or third you are able to chew and swallow and by the fifth you don't even need a drink to drown the taste miracle relief !!! love and no hugs right now as i just got over a bad head cold (with garlic and honey) and i don't want your flu judd xxxx http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TwentyMyPrettyPonies.html

It's hard to believe the weather here in Glasgow. It’s windy, cold, dull, pouring with rain and feels like winter. Compared to the great sun and heat last week; this it a complete turnaround. I hope your flu is short-lived. It can make you feel miserable as well as ill. Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

Again, As you have stated it reads both ways well

My preference would be bottoms up. If you gave your intro line here as it is now a little juggle a more powerful ending would emerge. Just by reshaping those same exact words. I don't want to word it for you here, but if you would like me to I could send a private message. I think the starting line is the most Powerful line. When rearranged for and ending. It is not often I find these types of writes that read this clear in either direction forward or backwards too me. The Bible has many verses also that read this way, it is quite interesting to me. Almost every write of mine doesn't read, but in one direction, I have not check them all though. Donnie/Sinbad the Sailor Man

This is a great poem! Very deep and open to various interpretations depending on who you are. I think myth and art have something in common in that they both spring from one's imagination. Thanks for bringing the creature back to life in your fabulous poem. The first line is a gem.
