The Silent Beast

 The silent beast

Has awaken

And is ready to hunt

With no remorse

For too long he hid

In queasy stomachs

Now he lingers silently

Like a predator

He studies his prey

Filled with a raging anger

He is let loose in living rooms

Listing to political promises

That he will make sure

Carry weight instead

Of just being another story

He waits for the moment

To expose political fallacies

That replaced honesty

With political events

Sponsored by local lobbyists

In exquisite restaurants

He exposes corruption

Tramples abuse of power

Stands for the common man

Laughs at political speeches

That promises everything

Through well written words

He watches patiently

As politicians victimize

Those less fortunate

Then he unleashes his arsenal

As he spits venom

To the faces of those

That swore to protect and serve

Instead they became blood sucking leaches

This untamed beast is found

In the pits of stomachs

Of innocent citizens

That had enough

And are ready to

to awaken their inner beast

That leaves its prey

Praying for mercy

Hi Paul, hope you don’t

Hi Paul, hope you don't mind some suggestions/changes of mine to use, abuse or throw away. Enjoyed a true political poem, just this side of a great rant. ;-) ~A The silent beast Has awakened Ready to hunt Without remorse Far too long was he hidden In the pit of queasy stomachs Now he lingers silently Like a predator stalking his prey Well-versed in the art of revenge Let loose in living rooms and dens He listens to political promises And waits for the moment To carry weight instead To expose corruption From being just another story That replaced honesty With social events Sponsored by lobbyists In delicious restaurants Abuse of power tramples The common man wht must Laugh for weeping at speeches That promise everything But somehow give nothing, Not even a menu Speak now, untamed beast From the imprisoned walls of our hearts Lest the sickness rise from being ignored and let this silent hunger end. ~Anna The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected. G.K. Chesteron

HI

Effective use of language and imagery, but maybe line 8 should be 'preditor,' since there is one beast, and what about saying , 'tutored in the art of revenge,' in line 9. An enjoyable read. lou xx

Wow, this is a take no

Wow, this is a take no prisoners write! I like it, seems to be a tad vague on which politics are at issue, but I do have an imagination. Great read, Paul, julie D.D.
