Ring Toss

We are not ignorant to the desperation.
The carnival no longer hides the view.

The dying prevalence won't crumble,
wide frightened eyes, screaming

and another
and another

The suffering continues
while we watch t.v.
determine our evening snack
relentlessly switching channels
topping off the soda
uncaring of the world
like it doesn't matter
... it's not us

another one

Hi Richard, yes, it does

Hi Richard, yes, it does hurt too much to think about. One of the greatest truths of life I learned from Ram Dass when he simply said: "to hold all this in one's heart is inexpressible". It would seem so. Thank you Richard. There are some words, some poems that cross that point. ~A The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected. G.K. Chesteron

Anna...

What a wonderful quote from Ram Dass, it actually makes me feel better about the world, for our little hearts can't hold all the suffering of the entire world, but sometimes it is so overwhelming to me to think about, I become cynical of what seems trivial, and so critical of what seems so important to others that I have to bite my lip so as not to offend, for most seem unaware of the magnitude of suffering throughout this, our world... Thank you Anna, I knew you would see this for what it was meant to be, and thank you for the quote. Richard

This Poem Has Impact

You said a lot in few words and there is much to be said for brevity...this is a powerful poem and I really like it. Love-Faith ~I never say anything I don't mean nor do I say anything to be mean.~

Once again...

You have opened that door that gets so little use. The one that people don't like to leave open, for fear that all the nastiness of the world will get in. Big as your heart is Richard, I don't think you or anyone can hold all the grief that the world has to offer. The best we can do, is to help where we can, and the shut out the rest of it. Awesome job! ~ Gee
