My Ecstasy

My Ecstasy

open a vein,
I shall shower
in your blood.
cry, and I
will swallow
all your tears
like dew drops.
speak, and I shall
sit in rapture
as your words
cascade down
upon me in
warm rivulets.
smile, and I
will feel
the sun's
warmth
upon my face.
Turn your back,
and I shall
shrivel up
in hopelessness
for I am
lost in limbo
without you.

First three lines

are my favorite, you know. But the whole thing is just superb. Your hubby is lucky! :) Something about "state of hopelessness" sounds a little "off", though. I think "shrivel [in] hopelessness" or "shrivel [to] hopelessness" or "shrivel up, hopeless" or something like that would work a bit better. Happy belated anniversary! In 28 years we have had our arguments, trials and tribulations, but we always worked them out. We have grown as individuals and as a couple, in that time. congratulations from me. Sorry I hadn't looked here before now. Something I note on a more intuitive plane: It seems what makes this especially rich is what's available to be read between the lines. Powerful. I do have a sort of caveat, though, as to Turn your back, and I shall shrivel up in hopelessness for I am lost in limbo without you, which speculates, I think unnecessarily. I would suggest that the relationship---its length, its completeness---perhaps has somehow strengthened you in ways that'd make you strong even if he were no longer. I would wish such.
