A Thin Read of Sound
I had become the slender reed
that bent to curve but never broke
a hollow echo of time
that thrilled my veins
(and now haunts my eyes)
and was sung,
as roots of knowledge dug deep,
but with a finding of ground
they eased closer to my heart
with limbs of grace
and foreign hands
I had wandered,
the face of the earth
but I return
to bend ever lower
in giving thanks,
for I am a hollow reed
now streaming on the sound
of a whole world,
still singing its own song
in an a cappella of time
