Oh my God Cat!

I don't know if you remember the song `Nobody’s Child`. I was singing that to myself today. It was my favourite song as a child. My mum used to sing it to me. Just in case you don’t this is how it starts… “I’m nobody’s child, I’m nobody’s child I’m like a flower, just growing wild nobody wants me, I’m nobody’s child. People come for children and take them for their own But nobody wants me because I’m blind, I’m nobody’s child”. It’s so old this song that I can’t remember the exact words but this is basically what it’s about. A child in an orphanage and nobody wants her because she’s blind. PS. To get back to the original poem. I'm thinking it's about a porcelain doll, or metaphor, that has been left to decay from memories of old and forgotten. Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

Style

Cat, I liked these short lines, they gave it character and the final lines of rhyme were sublime. (no rhyme intended!) I agree with Zigs about the imagery created in such a few lines/words. I really enjoyed this one. I love the update Cat

I can't find anything to critique, Jayne beat me to it! :p Such lovely imagery in such a short space, superb! Kelsey "In criticism I will be bold, and as sternly, absolutely just with friend and foe. From this purpose nothing shall turn me." -Edgar Allan Poe "If technique is of no interest to a writer, I doubt that the writer is an artist." -Marianne Moore

Oh how I love those porcelain dolls

Nice one and different from you. I like it alot, it reminded me of the porcelain doll I had that cracked and Dad glued together again but her cracks were showable through the love in her face and her lips. I like this and sorry I have not been on so much to visit. I shall love to get back to my poetic mind and looks like I need to spend more time on the porch with contemplation and thought for my head gets too headachy with other garbage. Mona shall return and tell Hood he sends much fairy dust to the porch where I see it and feel it. Love at you Golden and hope your feeling better Mona xxooxo

This is very poignant Cat

especially since I have a good idea what it refers to. You like your doll face imagery and use it so well. It also makes this piece very easy to empathise with. Love from Sweet Keith

NOBODY'S CHILD.

I REMEMBER THE SONG SO WELL - AND YOUR POEM IS SO FINELY INKED CAT, I ENJOYED READING IT VERY MUCH. IT IS DETAILED SO FINELY IN ELOQUENT IMAGERY. I COULD SEE THE DOLL IN MY MIND AS I READ THROUGH THIS DELIGHTFUL POEM, WHICH FLOWS SO EFFORTLESSLY FROM YOUR POETIC PEN. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR SHARING CAT.

No Body's Child

Hi Cat Well this is me,and fragile as porcelain doll am I Not wanted as a child (or an adult) in an orphanage for most of my childhood stay with about 20 other children no visits from a mum or dad or anyone - there was nobody there As In Rosina's comment Nobody's child I'm nobody's child like a flower, growing wild Nobody want's me, I'm nobody's child People come for children and make them their own Nobody want's me because they are blind So here am I still nobody's child wondering wild The vision I see - your porcelain doll lay in pieces on a wooden floor where spiders travel through and make their webb until she is trapped another certain call for no one see's her at all. This is me that porcelain doll Cat - This reached me in a way no one will ever know My sad lonely tears fall from behing that spider's webb I am always on the outside looking in with such longing to belong. Always Electric Blue

Dear Maggie

I can definitely sympathize, I may have had a family, but I wasn't wanted. This situation seems to happen allot and it is a shame. Love to you, Cat
