Pondering In The Graveyard

High grass and hearty wildflowers
obscure the crumbling cement mementos
as if trying to endow these rock hard slabs
with a gentle sense of softness

Strange!

we are welcomed with gem and jewel
birthstones
forever stones
radiant with lifelight and fire

Not so... Death!

Slid into the hereafter
under stones of massive gravity
bid heavenly adieu
with crumbs of brittle concrete;
hardly longer lasting than
our bald and bittered bones

Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
tabula rasa
tabula rust
— brittle light, Jun 24, 2010

Very nice ending, all I can

Very nice ending, all I can say is to, life! I liked the imagery to illuminate your point. Raskin
