Scary Things

I have seen scary things

Things that no one else has seen

That look he looks

Out of the corner of his eye

That everyone sees

But only I have seen

That only I know what it means

That look that says

When everyone is gone

I will pay

For what I did wrong

I know he says he loves me

Because he knows he is suppose to

But when you have seen

The things I have seen

It sure is hard to tell

Great write Hobo

Curious though? Who is it that you've seen? I'm a bit dim-witted and can't think who it is, ha ha. Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

Painful

A painful subject , but tackled well. The only thing i would say line 3 doesn't scan very well, hope you don't mind me correcting your grammer, maybe you could say , ' that look he gives.' Otherwise a great read. love lou xx

You are exactly right

You are exactly right my friend, this is about a look that a father gives to his children that only the children know exactly what that look means, others who see teh look don't understand what is soon to come You can never pick anyone up if you are busy putting them down

I get it now

Thanks for your explanation. I can imagine how that must feel. I've had that look from other people in my past, although not my dad, but scary just the same. Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

Deeply Moving

This poem perfectly describes how a father's look can create havoc in a child's mind. I don't remember when it happened, but one day I was relieved/rescued from the look of my father's eyes that had been a constant intrusion in my youth. I haven't thought about how his eyes seemed to follow me everywhere (even when he wasn't present) for so many years. You have penned a deeply moving poem that is thought-provoking and very well written. I applaud you! I never say anything I don't mean nor do I say anything to be mean.
