St Elmo's fire

careful as a hummingbird

she flutters against my window

knocking softly

crying dumb and quietly

shows her sore shoulder

where the blade penetrated

her pain becomes mine

wordless from the sea smoke she slides

to my lost pilot

as deep ocean gardens slumber

the sleeping grains are stirred up

glittering a moment in the movement

before the sediment once again goes to rest

on the perishable's troubled sleep

a new day germinates

a different day

she takes me to the pagoda

and in its cool room I close my eyes

floating in timelessness away

crying her sorrows

Molly!

Hello Molly! Good to see you here! The title of this one jumped out at me as there is a film called this which is one of my favourite films from the 80's! All about friendships and growing up! Although this poem has nothing to do with this at all the story you pen here is grand and eloquent indeed! It is very soul stirring with great emotional content that is shared by the reader as well as yourself for the downed humming bird that goes between each flower, it is like a dreamy daze in which you invoke as you trail after the little bird sharing its pained flight in virtual silence until it find it resting place in the pagoda... and although the pain lancinates with each heart beat... here we can convalesce, in the world you create... so we may rise again with the dawn and live life once again. Love this poem and its garden of delights! Hope you are doing well my friend, I have missed you! Dale :)
