Flower Fight

Once long ago,
In granny's garden near the sea,
I heard the flowers arguing,
As we sat down  to tea.

The roses were obnoxious,
Boasting their beauty was the best,
"We are the queens of the garden,
"Far more lovely than the rest."

The tulips, they all scoffed,
"We are prettier than you,
"For we come in many more colors,
In every imaginable hue."

"The lilies of the valley,
Bragged "We are the pride of Easter Day,"
"We tower over all of you"
I heard the sunflowers say.

Then the other flowers got in on it,
Saying they were the bloom to beat,
They kept it up the whole day long,
Beneath the summer heat.

The little daises kept silent,
Refused to join the fight,
And they kept their quiet peace,
Till the day turned into night.

When the sun set for a needed rest,
And the moon lit up the sky,
The daises had had enough,
And they began to cry.

"My friends," said the biggest one,
 "Mother Earth loves each one,
She made us out of her love and care,
"Please do not ruin what she has done."

"We all make the garden beautiful,
This fighting is such a shame,
Imagine how boring it would be,
If we were all the same."

This poem is really great!

This poem is really great! And yes, the daisies are the greatest of all! Which leads to my first question-critique: is it "daisies" with typo, or a word I don't know? Also,as Judy-Anne pointed out, "We tower" seems preferable. Also, "“My friends,” said the biggest one, ”Mother Earth loves each one, She made us out of her love and care, “Please do not ruin what she has done.”" In this stanza you have two lines that end with "one", I would change it to ""My friends", said the eldest", or something like that. She's probably the biggest, and it makes sense for the eldest sibling to be the spokesperson. And she is sooooo right, how boring it would be if we were all the same! Variety is the spice of life! Great poem ,

and a wonderfull insight to how the world can be. Everyone thinking they are better, when in real terms there's no one better than the other. Great poem. Love Roscoe..

Adorable, precious poem. So

Adorable, precious poem. So many wonderful lines, how could I choose one over the other and how'd I miss a poem about flowers arguing? (Must be because I was too busy arguing myself as of late.) Barry and I were just admiring the colours and different shapes, scents, lengths of flowers in my garden, they all get along and somehow manage to show off each others beauty by their contrasts. Flowers are so deliciously sensual. Thanks for this summer's delight of a poem. ~A "People sometimes inquire what form of government is most suitable for an artist to live under. To this question there is only one answer. The form of government that is most suitable to the artist is no government at all." Oscar Wilde
