August heat
mid June
in New England
one never knows

This night
twilight time
through the trees
a ball of red can
be seen
setting-over the river

sprinklers on..
I love that sound

like knowing my
children have been fed..

plants happy
as their feet rest
from the summers heat
in the cool, moist earth.

Nice images

I really like this poem of yours. I love sprinklers and the sound and that line, 'like knowing my children have been fed.' Simple and cool. Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa, Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. Perhaps I take my gardening a tad too seriously, but this is exactly how I feel on these warm summer nights. Sue

Sue

Your sprinkler line made me think of when I was small, the suns heat would get too hot to water in the daytime(waste of time) lol and mum would turn the sprinklers on and have then running in the evening ... was a nice rhythm to go to sleep to love and big hugs JayCee when your finished with summer send it back down to us its freezing here this year lol (“In time we hate that which we often fear.” William Shakespeare quote)

Hi Seren, Thanks for the comment. I have always had a thing for the sound of sprinklers. Perhaps mine stems from my childhood too. Sue

FUN

As a kid in West Texas, we would have water fights with the sprinklers at the boys club. Some of the best memories of my life. When I got out of school I would go to the boys club until it closed at 9:00. I was 10 and would walk half way across town going and coming mostly by myself. Things were safer in 1963. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. Take Care. huey

Hi Huey, Isn’t it funny

Hi Huey, Isn't it funny the things that remain in our memory but ask what we had for lunch yesterday, and we're clueless. I don't have a lot of good childhood memories, but what I do have, I cherish. Glad I brought one of your good ones to mind. Thanks, as always, Sue
