As Children Do

Wake to allied comradeship and with new found

strength fight the massive mammoth monsters,

then breakfast a while and dream of riddles.

Stir to the call of fragrant bouquets

stimulating mystic balms of

ambiguous shapes and colours and listen

in awe while regarding ripples manifest around

the sound of the butterfly wing fluttering

fluidly through its delicate trembling dance.

Later, from the apex of the slippery slide,

feel the taste of new memories

as they flicker joyously into existence

rushing, brushing lovingly over the epidermis of life.

Then touch the vision of the enigma of the moment

in the epicure of the swing at its highest arc in the profoundly

earnest attempt to capture the mystery of the day

while squealing in sheer delight.

Complete the experience with twilight summersaults and

cartwheels and standing on our heads

and writing letters to the angels.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Dear Judy

Your poetry never ceases to amaze! Stir to the call of fragrant bouquets stimulating mystic balms of ambiguous shapes and colours and listen in awe while regarding ripples manifest around the sound of the butterfly wing fluttering fluidly through its delicate trembling dance. Love, Cat

I love it Judy

It makes me think of washing out all the bad thoughts that can engulf us in the society that we live in and just embrace the true nature of real life, which is to enjoy the good things and eradicate the bad, if we can. A great wise poem for our children Judy…well done Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

Oh those memories of childhood pleasantly captured and held. You bought a smile to my face and I revisited some of my childhood memories. Your flow and use of words was excellent and something to aspire to. Well done Judy. Love to you from Mand xxxxx
