A REQUIEM FOR AN AIRLINER

A REQUIEM FOR AN AIRLINER Alpha Delta Kilo zero five threeRequesting for start-upStart-up approvedReady for takeoffIn position, clearedTakeoff runway two-twoDeparture right on courseRoger… The control tower printout publishedBrought back sad memories of the infernoPride of nom de plume, reduced to ashesAnd mocked our attempt to excelQuerying the way we do things hereAs I look back in time at the disastersI see the elusive hand of fate in a decadeOf recycled woes in the theatre of life The tears are dried from long cryingBut it couldn’t turn back the hand of timeAs I wept for all the departed spiritsBecause I couldn’t bring them back to liveThe cover-ups undermined the lossesAn Airline, a scapegoat, thus sacrificedLike Christ on the cross crucifiedHad to be liquidated to appease the gods Alpha Delta Kilo zero five threeTouch-down, not requestedThe tower drew blank on gusty windNo distress call, no MaydayIt banked north and took a diveThen into nothingnessHope queried the lives and jobs lostRoger and over.

It is sad...

This crash, which I think, could have been averted was caused by gusty wind. The instrument read, 15 knots going down to 12, while another independent of a private operator read 65 knots. Sadly so, the authorities tried to cover up and put the blame on the poor pilot. Some experts said, the country had a poor radar coverage. Sultan, Medical doctors, Deputy Governor and very important people died in this crash. The Airline licence was withdrawn, I think, for political reasons. Thanks for the time and the comments. Best wishes. T.

very good

Hello. This is the first I have read of yours. I was attracted by your title and was not disappointed in my read. This is written very well. I think it holds interest, intrigue, suspense, and an impactful sadness which stuns with reality. Just a few one-word/two-word spelling issues to clean it up. Should be: start-up (takes hyphen as noun, you have it twice as two words) takeoff (one word as noun) printout (one word as noun cover-ups (takes hyphen) touchdown (one word as noun) Mayday (May Day means May 1, Mayday the distress call) I hope you don't mind my stopping in with a critique. I'm glad I opened your poem this a.m.

Thank you very much

I appreciate your comments and your observations, especially on the correct form of these words. I will correct them immediately, I would have written them better if I wrote them in my native language. Sosongho, meaning, thank you. I am happy you read it. Best wishes. T.

I think your English is wonderful.

And thank you for teaching me a word in your native language. Sosongho. It sounds beautiful as I pronounce it.

Mr T

You know I love your reads. As I read this it also reminded me of another Roger and over distress call from four different airliners in the sky. This part for sure brang to mind that horrid day here in the USA. As I look back in time at the disasters I see the elusive hand of fate in a decade Of recycled woes in the theatre of life Sosongho:) Good job friend Love,Mona xoxo
