THE SCIENCE OF CLOUDS
I remember way back when
my oldest son was nine or ten
'twas one of those warm lazy days
went to the dock to catch some rays
We laid on our backs with out speaking
(back before my bones were creaking)
as fluffy white clouds drifted by
he turned his head to catch my eye
"What makes clouds?"he asked me so
I explained as best I know
thus without further conjecture
I'll recall my science lecture
Clouds start out as water vapor
(as I quoted from a high school paper)
thats drawn from surface of the ocean
the heat incurring upward motion
As vapor rises air grows cool
(I blabbered on like an old fool)
water droplets then condence
you know that this makes perfect sense
Drops by cohesion then combine
(my exposition going fine)
the sunlight turns this damp mass white
allowing cloud to come to sight
I laid there feeling real smart then
thinking tale was over when
his next question left me agog
"why does that cloud look like a dog?"
my oldest son was nine or ten
'twas one of those warm lazy days
went to the dock to catch some rays
We laid on our backs with out speaking
(back before my bones were creaking)
as fluffy white clouds drifted by
he turned his head to catch my eye
