Night Sky

Gentle spring-like moon-less gloaming.

Balmy breeze caressing.

Briny eternal black ink canopy

embroidered with trembling luminous sequins.

I lay on indisputable firmness.

Mother earth, hard and comforting enfolds me -

and tips

so I am spreadeagled on the ceiling of eternity

staring into intense esoteric yawning.

I feel the negligible tininess of me

in the vast

of this enormous place

and I fall into forever.

Voluptuous motionless milky veils

reflecting iridescent silver and grey

emphasise the depth

of evermore.

One in the guise of a foot,

huge,

embedded with scintillating diamonds.

I imagine God is taking a stroll.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Mmmmmmmm. Delicious

Mmmmmmmm. Delicious poetry! Yesterday Barry and I went strolling in God's Paradise, getting in touch with who we are. Clouds and things. ;-) The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A star fell from the sky today, it was you judyanne

Ann of Norway Oh I see and feel you lying there and wonder....just wonder... yes indeed "God's garden" is in the heavens is it not, where we get so much inspiration and magical imaginings; you have worded a beautiful imagining here my friend judyanne. Love annanya.

funny you just brought back a memory annanya

my mother says as a tiny baby i would only settle if she sang to me 'a star fell from heaven' (do you know the josef Smidtz - maybe that's not how you spell it - song?) she says even as a tiny babe i would try to sing along with it... my aunt tells the story of how she didn't believe her, so my mother sang all and sundry to me and i wasn't interested, then sang that song and i started smiling and crooning along. i've loved that song all of my life hugs judyanne xxx http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TwentyMyPrettyPonies.html

Catch a falling star judyanne

Ann of Norway We had Uncle Remus read to us, the Tar Baby was the favourite story, but my sister and I were sung to and loved all my mother's lullabies, Something so soothing that their memory only has to be conjured up in the mind to soothe still. Our favourite music was on a 78 record, and my sister sat on it, crack!! We never recovered!!!I don't know what it was either!! Then there was "Take her to a shady little spot, de de de de derdede de de,.... and leave the rest to nature" So I was early under the impression that nature had powers that we knew not of...- I didn't know what the song meant I liked nature so it was a good idea!... while my parents would look at each other and shake their heads!!! Stjärnorna...................................................STARS by Edith Södergran När natten kommer......................................When the night comes
står jag på trappan och lyssnar,....................I stand on the steps and listen
stjärnorna svärma i trädgården.....................the stars are swarming in the garden
och jag står ute i mörkret.............................and I stand out in the dark Gå icke ut i gräset med bara fötter;..............Don't go out in the grass with bare feet;
min trädgård är full av skärvor......................My garden is full of splinters. Stjärnenatten................................................A Starlit Night.....by....Edith Södergran Onödigt lidande,...........................................Uselessly suffering
onödig väntan,..............................................uselessly waiting.
världen är tom som ditt skratt.......................the world is empty like your laugh
 stjärnorna falla -
kalla och härliga natt..........stars fall - cold and wonderful night
Kärleken ler under sömnen,...........................love laughs in its sleep
kärleken drömmer om evighet.......................love dreams of eternity
Onödig fruktan, onödig smärta,....................useless fear, useless pain
världen är mindre än ingenting,....................the wordl is smaller than nothing
ned i djupet glider från kärlekens hand........down in the deep slips from love's hand evighetens ring.............................................eternity's ring. Just felt they fitted here, my 'simple' translation!!!! I don't know the star falling from heaven, I love the "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day..." What magical idea, I shall try next time I see one, in November is best here in the northern hemisphere I think: shooting stars oh to ride on one and see beyond the beyond, I think on my death bed I shall try to hitch hike with one and then I too will see what no one knows.... ....annanya with love.
