downturn

black top
white socks

the razor belt
that spindles
like a serpent
for luck

your eyes flicker
shoal warning
out there is deep
water
big
enough
to
swallow
fear

hesitant your hand
holding fast
stitching patterns

and the storm
full of thorns
bristles through its
teeth at the end of
the links

"What are you looking at"
the mirror full of look
turn yourself to
watch the houses stream
the sky full of blue blister
clouds of indignant
indifference

how can I begin too
know
pain thats cut through
the median

sterling laugh
sliding like a blade
nicks my vein

cognizant

black butterfly tearing free the pin secure sharp as the tomb etched tiding clear as the dirty blue that slides the bellies of clouds across soft top yearning trees there will never be another like you
