Pedal Point Prayer

Under a rising sun of subtlety

may I lead a life

of contemplative harmony

in an aria of melodious rhapsody.

And with the mystery of voice,

its timbre dulcet and mellow,

be honest in lyrics,

truthful in tone,

unadulterated in cadence,

mellifluously delineating sharps and flats,

projecting acoustic emotion

that infuses the soul

with its perfection in pitch.

And like the idyll of a nightingale

touch others with the octave of my sound.
